Lillian Rothman
MFA Student

Lillian May Rothman—or Lilly, as her friends and family call her— is an exploratory eco-poet, a third-year MFA candidate in Creative Writing, and a Graduate Part-Time Instructor at CU Boulder. She graduated from Davidson College in 2021 where she earned degrees in English and Philosophy. She serves as TIMBER’s poetry co-editor alongside the brilliant Bri Gonzalez.

Lillian’s poetry explores the interaction between the self, the natural world, and modernity through language, abstraction, and visual presentation. For Lilly, poetic composition is both a critical and creative practice. Her poetic structure pays homage to feminist ideologies by approaching questions and experiences via the act of ‘hovering,’ a term she has adopted to describe how some poetry ‘looks down’ upon reality to gain perspective of unknowns.
