Associate Professor, Jill Litt, and Ph.D student, Ashby Leavell, were recently awarded a $40,000 seed grant from the CU Renee Crown Wellness Institute to pursue our 2020-2021 study, "Designing Nature-Based Social Prescriptions with Adolescent Mothers and Their Peers to Address Social Connection". Nature-based, social prescribing is an innovative option to leverage extend the reach of green spaces such as parks and gardens. This study will explore NBSPs with adolescent partners by co-creating a fall 2020 internship for students at New Legacy Charter School for pregnant and parenting adolescents, a spring 2021 intercept survey with young parents at the Young Mother’s Clinic of the Children’s Hospital of Colorado, and a summer 2021 youth-led summertime group-based program to engage young parents with nature-based community assets.
