Fake IDs are not worth the risk

It is against university policy and the law in Colorado to use or possess a fraudulent identification document, and enforcement is extremely strict. Here are three things you need to know about fake IDs.

Consequences for using a fake ID

CU Boulder students who have a fake ID confiscated may be responsible for a court appearance, fines and other penalties in addition to being referred to the Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution.

Impact on the community

Business owners at bars, liquor stores, restaurants and dispensaries are required to carefully check IDs and must confiscate fake IDs and turn them over to the police or else risk serious penalties for serving underage patrons. 

Risks when purchasing a fake ID

There is also personal risk when purchasing a fake ID. The personal identifying information shared when purchasing a fake ID can be stolen and used to make fake travel documents and other items with your information.
