Dr Erbse earned her Chemistry Diploma, which is equivalent to a Master’s degree in the United States, and her Doctorate in Natural Science (Dr rer. nat.) from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany. Since completing her thesis, Dr Erbse has worked in a diverse range of fields, including protein folding and degradation, kinase signalling in bacteria, and bioenergetics.
In November 2012, she joined the University of Colorado Boulder’s Department of Biochemistry, where she was responsible for establishing the new Shared Instruments Pool (SIP). She later became the director of the Biomolecular X-ray Crystallography Core in 2016.
With over 25 years of research experience, Dr Erbse has developed a broad skill set in biophysics, biochemistry, protein chemistry, and molecular biology. Her extensive expertise uniquely qualifies her to lead both facilities and provide expert support for a wide variety of research projects.
