This article examines superheated fluorocarbon mixtures for acoustic droplet vaporization.  Effects of chemical composition, temperature and mechanical index are measured.  The mixtures work great to tune the vaporization temperature in closed systems, but not so well in open systems.  Nevertheless, the concept of using superheated fluorocarbons for imaging temperature thresholds is shown.  The paper also includes a new model on superheated droplet dissolution:
