Kristen Reed is pursuing a Masters in Environmental Engineering with a
certificate in Global Engineering. Her current research focuses on
soil cementation using state-of-the-art microbial-induced calcium
carbonate precipitation (MICP) and developing a method to reduce the
resource burden associated with ureolytic soil biocementation. Through
integrating principles of bioengineering and biochemistry with
materials science and cement chemistry, she is engineering a rapidly
deployable urea-free or urea-reduced MICP approach using autotrophic
photosynthetic organisms.
