The Macdonald Lab (led by Assistant Professor Robyn L. Macdonald) focuses on predictive modeling of hypersonic flows. Our research targets gas phase chemistry modeling, turbulent flow modeling, and laminar-to-turbulent transition predictions for hypersonic flows. Using a variety of computational tools, ranging from molecular dynamics calculations to hypersonic computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of full scale vehicles, we aim to understand and model the fundamental physical processes of these flowfields.
