Ankit Gangrade
Postdoctoral Associate
Chemical & Biological Engineering

Originally from India, Ankit completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at DAVV, Indore, and Ph.D. in bioscience and bioengineering at IIT Guwahati, India. His postdoctoral journey included a year at IIT Gandhinagar and two fruitful years at the Terasaki Institute in Los Angeles, USA. Ankit's significant contributions to the field have centered on developing biomaterials to address a broad spectrum of clinical challenges, particularly in cancer therapy, abdominal aneurysm management, enterocutaneous fistula treatment, and bone tissue engineering. At the Shields' Lab, Ankit's research is focused on treating osteoarthritis through engineering immune cells, aiming to bring innovative solutions to longstanding challenges. Outside the lab, Ankit's curiosity extends to factually based web series, technological innovations, and the life stories of influential figures in science and technology. These interests fuel his passion for making a difference in the medical field as he continues to explore the intersection of engineering and biology to improve patient care.
