Everyone living in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada will see a partial solar eclipse today, weather permitting, of course. If you’re lucky enough to be in the path of totality you’ll see a total solar eclipse.

We don’t have an event planned at Fiske since most of us are traveling to other states to be in the path of totality, but we wish everyone clear skies and happy viewing.

Here's more info from NASA on the 2024 total solar eclipse. And, a series of videos produced by Fiske via our Science Through Shadows project.

SAFETY NOTE FROM NASA: Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face, it is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing. Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.
