Astronomy Day - APRIL 5, 2025 from 1-5pm & 7-10pm

Join us for a full day of FREE family-friendly activities and events!

Send a postcard to space, draw an exoplanet, take a tour of CU's scale model solar system, enjoy kid-friendly fulldome shows & star talks, investigate different kinds of light, look through telescopes, plus explore the Sun, its corona, and the solar wind with PUNCH + more!

Full schedule of shows and activities

  • 1:00-5:00PM Explore the ultraviolet coloring room, infrared/light and shadows room, build and launch a model rocket, and look through daytime telescopes at Sommers-Bausch Observatory
  • 1:10PM  One Sky at Fiske (English)
  • 2:05PM Big Astronomy featuring a live talk by research scientists at Fiske (English)
  • 3:05PM  Hazelnuts: In search of the perfect planet at Fiske (English)
  • 3:45PM  Stars & Planets/Estrellas y Planetas at Fiske (English & Español)

  • 7:00-10:00PM Telescopes at SBO Enjoy spectacular views of the cosmos with telescopes at Sommers-Bausch Observatory
  • 7:00PM  Keynote presentation - The Sun Touches Humanity: The Astrophysics of Our Home in Space with the Craig DeForest, lead of the recently launched NASA PUNCH mission at Fiske --- We  live very close to a star. The outer reaches of the Sun itself extend outward into space, as an eternal “solar wind” that fills the solar system and washes over our planet. Join Dr. Craig DeForest, leader of NASA’s PUNCH mission to learn about how the four PUNCH spacecraft are poised to reveal “space weather” and the tenuous, hypersonic material in the not-so-empty space between planets.   • 10:00PM  Liquid Sky Kid Cudi Man on the Moon at Fiske (Regular ticket prices apply.) 


This event is co-hosted by Fiske Planetarium, Sommers-Bausch Observatory, and Explorando Senderos de Boulder and sponsored by NASA’s PUNCH Outreach Project. Team members from local science and education organizations will also be joining us with activities. Explorando Senderos will support monolingual Spanish speakers with language access.
