In an ongoing effort to better secure personal and financial data on our campus, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be required when logging into MyCUInfo or Buff Portal (the CU Boulder student portal) starting Tuesday, January 9. It will also be required when logging into CU's VPN starting March 14. At that time, everyone will be prompted to enroll and use Duo MFA before being granted access to VPN, MyCUInfo or the Buff Portal.

The enrollment process should take no more than five minutes and all you need is a smartphone or phone number. Just go to CU Boulder’s Duo Multi-Factor Authentication Enrollment website, log in with your IdentiKey username and password, then follow the prompts to enroll. Detailed enrollment instructions, screenshots and FAQ are available on the OIT website.

If you have a smartphone, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Duo recommend using push notifications with the Duo mobile app as your primary method of authentication because it is the easiest and fastest way to authenticate with Duo.
It’s important that our campus continually update its systems and do everything it can to reasonably protect both the personal information of our students, faculty and staff and the university’s data, finances and reputation from the increasing threat of cybersecurity attacks. MFA has been shown to block 99.9% of attacks in which personal credentials have been compromised, which in turn will help to safeguard the university’s online data.

Please enroll with Duo now.
