The CU-Boulder Outreach Committee has awarded Professor Mark Williams $5,000 for an outreach project focusing on Colorado's water resources. Professor Williams, along with Mountain Studies Institute Executive Director Dr. Koren Nydick and Geography graduate student Adrianne Kroepsch, propose to connect research on water resources currently being conducted in southwest Colorado to four public groups: resource managers, local residents, college students, and elementary classrooms. They will build on relationships already in place "such as that between CU Boulder, MSI, and Fort Lewis College under the auspices of the San Juan Collaboratory" as well as by fostering new ones with San Juan Public Lands Center policymakers, Fort Lewis/CU students enrolled in MSI summer courses, and local elementary schools. The proposed outreach would connect with a wide audience, communicating water resources science to a full spectrum of age groups and expertise.
