Scott AdlerDear graduate students:

As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to evolve, I am writing to assure you that the Graduate School is here to offer you information, guidance, and support. We are a community of students and scholars, and I want to emphasize that your immediate priority should be on your own mental and physical health and that of your family.

Additionally, I want to help ensure you remain aware of the information available from campus leadership as well as where you can find support and resources. As you know, in-person classes were canceled today, and remote teaching will begin on March 16. For up-to-date information about campus operations, please continue to reference CU Boulder’s coronavirus updates and resources page.

To address your specific concerns as graduate students, we have created FAQs for the spring 2020 semester on the Graduate School’s website that provides details on any adjustments being made to appointments, academic procedures, graduation requirements, and Graduate School operations. This page will be updated throughout the remainder of the semester.

The Graduate School understands the uncertainty and pressures that you are facing, and we are here to support you in every way possible. We recommend that you continue to work closely with your graduate program assistant and faculty advisor to discuss specifics related to your courses, degree requirements, examination/defense requirements, and theses.

Be sure to take care by supporting each other and avoiding stigma. If you experience unfair treatment, please know that there are reporting and support options available on our campus. You can visit Don’t Ignore It to explore these options. See also the CDC Avoid Stigma webpage.

The Graduate School will continue to keep you apprised through campus communications and the CU Boulder Today Graduate School Edition. If you need additional information and guidance, do not hesitate to email us at gradinfo@colorado.edu with your questions and concerns. Again, thank you for your flexibility, your leadership, and your care as we navigate together these uncertain times.

Sincerely,

E. Scott Adler
Dean of the Graduate School
