International Travel Procedures

International

-Seek required approval to travel

-Register for GEO Blue Medical and Evacuation insurance if you haven't already (geo-blue.com).  CU's group access code number is QHG99999UCBT.  You only need to register once (not for each trip).  Registration is not necessary to be covered, but strongly encouraged.  If you are traveling with a family member, you can purchase coverage for that person. If you are combining a business trip with vacation, you are covered through Geo Blue insurance for the entire trip.

-Get speedtype from Karen (this is the speedtype where your airfare will be charged)

- Update profile on Concur Travel (especially international travel information!)

-You can register your trip through International SOS (travel assistant program), www.internationalsos.com (CU membership number: 11BCAS000006).

-Book trip online through a travel agent at Christopherson Business Travel.  Give Karen's contact info to travel agent as the approver (so they will send a copy of your itinerary to the department).

If you are purchasing an airline ticket on your own (not through Concur or Christopherson Travel), you will need to get a higher quote through Concur Travel *before* your trip (if the quote is lower than what you paid, you will be reimbursed the amount of the quote).

-See the "International Travel Letter" for information on visas, travel warnings, etc.:  https://www.cu.edu/risk/services/international-travel

Always take car rental insurance on international trips.

If you are traveling on university related business, you do NOT need to register your trip (workman's comp now covers insurance for this).  (per PSC July 2014)

(Note:  you need to seek approval form the department before any travel arrangements are made.)
