Staff and faculty can now access free telehealth services with AcademicLiveCare

As part of our mission to create a culture of wellness on campus, Health and Wellness Services is now offering AcademicLiveCare (ALC) to staff and faculty to support their physical, emotional and mental health. 


What is AcademicLiveCare?

AcademicLiveCare is a telehealth platform that allows CU Boulder staff and faculty to schedule medical and mental health appointments virtually. Through this program, you can see board-certified healthcare professionals from your home, office or anywhere you go. All you need is a smartphone, computer, tablet or other mobile device.

   Note: This service is available to all staff and faculty, regardless of your insurance plan. 


What can I use AcademicLiveCare for?

AcademicLiveCare is available as a supplemental platform to your normal health insurance plan. Here are some of the ways you can use AcademicLiveCare.

Virtual medical appointments, including:

  • Coughs/colds
  • Sinus/ear infections
  • Allergies
  • Strep throat
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Minor urgent care appointments

Virtual mental health appointments, including:

  • Stress management
  • Therapy and counseling
  • Grief
  • Anxiety or depression
  • General wellness
  • Psychiatry, medication management
  • General wellness

AcademicLiveCare does not provide crisis or emergency care. If you need crisis support, please call the Real Help Hotline at 833-533-2428 or text “TALK” to 38255


When should I use AcademicLiveCare?

Staff and faculty are encouraged to take advantage of benefits through their employee health insurance plan and on-campus resources like the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP). However, AcademicLiveCare can provide supplemental support for:

  • Evening, weekend and after-hours appointments
  • Faculty and staff who are traveling or working out of state
  • Faculty and staff who want one-time or short-term mental health services
  • Faculty and staff who want ongoing, long-term support or weekly counseling sessions

Keep in mind that AcademicLiveCare can also be used in conjunction with other campus resources, such as FSAP workshops and groups


How do I sign up?

You can register for AcademicLiveCare for free using your CU Boulder IdentiKey. Here’s how:

  1. Visit cubemployees.myahpcare.com/telehealth
  2. Click ‘Sign Up’
  3. Use your IdentiKey email address to create your account
  4. Complete your profile
  5. When prompted to enter a ‘service key’, type ALC and press ‘Continue’

If you do not enter the service key, you will get an error message. If you see this message, click ‘Add a Service Key’ and enter the coupon code ALCUCB to zero out charges. 

You can also download the AcademicLiveCare app to create an account on your mobile phone. Simply follow the instructions above in the app.
