Mental health is more than therapy. Knowing how to take care of ourselves and look out for each other can make a significant impact on our mental health and overall well-being. That’s why we are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month to raise awareness, share self-care strategies, provide support and reduce stigma around mental health concerns.

Support for students

CU Boulder has a variety of services available to help students improve their mental health and well-being.

CAPS provides mental health support for all CU Boulder students, including mental health screenings, brief individual therapy, group therapy, workshops, crisis support and more.

Note: CAPS services are open to students who are in the state of Colorado. Recent graduates can access CAPS services through July 31, 2023.

OVA provides free and confidential information, consultation, support, advocacy and short-term, trauma-focused counseling services for students who have experienced and/or witnessed a traumatic or disturbing event. 

The CUCRC provides recovery-focused support meetings, recovery-focused housing, events and activities, peer support and more for students who are in recovery or interested in pursuing recovery from drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, self-harm, other addictions and unwanted behaviors.

AcademicLiveCare is a free telehealth platform that allows students to schedule and attend mental health and medical appointments from anywhere. 

Note: This is a great option for students who are currently out of state.

WellTrack is a free app that can help you track your mood, practice skills and build resilience. WellTrack is available on the App Store and Google Play. Sign in with your IdentiKey for free access.

Whether you’re looking to be active, meet people, find your community or explore new hobbies, the Rec Center is a great place to get started. They offer fitness classes, training courses, outdoor trips and skills workshops and more. You can even go to The Rec for free (no membership required) every Wednesday from June 7 through August 2.

Support for staff and faculty

CU Boulder has a variety of services available to help staff and faculty improve their mental health and well-being.

FSAP provides free mental health services for all CU Boulder staff and faculty, including brief counseling, community referrals, workshops and support groups. Virtual and in-person drop-in hours are available.

Note: Employees do not need to use sick time or PTO in order to use these services.

The Real Help Hotline provides access to professional counselors who can offer assistance finding local resources as well as immediate crisis counseling. This program is free, confidential and available to all employees 24/7 at 833-533-2428.
