Marni Trowbridge
MA Student
American West

Advisor: Professor Andrews • Marni Trowbridge is a Master’s candidate in the Department of History, studying the American West. She earned Bachelor's degrees in both Psychology and History from the University of Colorado, Boulder and later, received a teaching certificate from the School of Education in Denver.

Currently, Marni is completing a project that looks at how Colorado newspapers portrayed marginalized groups living and working in the region from 1859-1910. A large portion of her work centers on early Denver cemeteries, and shows that even in death, opportunities for many disenfranchised groups were limited and based specifically upon class, race, and religious distinctions.

Marni has worked as a teacher in the Jeffco Public School District since 2016, and specializes in Early United States History, World Area Studies, and Newspaper Journalism, grades 7-12. She has also published research papers in the field of behavioral neuroscience (Smock, Stark, Trowbridge: 1998, 2005, and 2010).
