Viola Burlew

Advisor: Professor Phoebe Young • Viola is PhD student studying gender representations, censorship, and pop culture trends in the twentieth century, with a particular focus on female-led comic books and graphic novels. Viola is a Boulder local who earned her B.A.s in History and English Literature from CU in 2020. As a member of the graduate program she has contributed to the Washington Post and served on the Executive Committee for the Rocky Mountain Interdisciplinary History Conference. When not on campus, you can find her watching the newest Marvel movie or catching up on British period dramas, constantly in pursuit of powerful and fantastic stories.
