HR's New Purpose & Vision
Dear HR colleagues,
I’m excited to share an important milestone in our journey to transform HR at CU Boulder.
Through the work of the HR Blueprint Project, the HR Extended Leadership Team collaborated with HR team members across the campus to reflect on who we are, what we stand for, and where we’re headed.
The result is a new, shared HR Purpose and Vision—a ‘North Star’ that applies to all of us, regardless of our position within the organization. These statements are designed to unite us as one HR community at CU Boulder, working in alignment to support the university and its people.
Purpose Statement
Our purpose is to be the cornerstone of a thriving work environment, leveraging our expertise in human resources management to elevate organizational performance and individual excellence, which creates a competitive advantage for CU Boulder to deliver on its mission and vision.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to be a trusted advisor and strategic partner, empowering CU Boulder to lead in addressing the challenges of the 21st century. We set the standard for an exceptional workplace by elevating performance, unlocking potential, and creating an environment where employees can do meaningful work and envision a bright future for themselves.
The Purpose and Vision aren’t just aspirational—they’re actionable. They serve as a compass for how we approach our work, how we support one another, and how we contribute to CU Boulder’s long-term success.

You’ll begin to see our Purpose and Vision show up in meetings, materials, and communications across the HR community. We have also created resources and discussion tools to help you and your teams explore how to put these words into action.
