August 12, 2015

The Banich paper entitled: Flexible brain network reconfiguration supporting inhibitory control was published in the Proceedings of National Academy of Science (PNAS, Early Edition) by authors J. Spielberg, G. Miller, W. Heller and M. Banich for their work on distraction and the brain’s cognitive functions. PNAS released the following press statement regarding the paper: “According to a new study, as it becomes harder to tune out distracting information, the network of brain regions involved in inhibiting distraction reconfigures itself, increasing communication efficiency, resilience to disruption, and the interconnectivity of key regions, which may provide a new framework for understanding inhibitory control disorders such as ADHD.”
