Pate will serve as chair of the Human Factors Task Group for the Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science, OSAC, which is the scientific advisory committees for forensic sciences at NIST, the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Pate states "I see that as part of my community service, using cognitive science to have a practical impact on decision making in the criminal justice system. The appointment also gave me an opportunity to tout my new academic home at CU."
