Title: Designing Affective Supports for a Learning Game

Abstract:

  • While exploring various cognitive and affective supports designed to aid learning and reduce frustration in an educational game, it became clear that with the myriad supports we wanted to investigate, a quantitative approach would be chronically underpowered. We switched to a series of qualitative interviews to help when, how, and why to give support during the game.
