Torin Hopkins is a musician and inter-disciplinary researcher in HCI. He has worked professionally as a neuroscience researcher, UX designer, and musician/ music educator, having built and orchestrated many technologically driven musical experiences for individual and large-group music improvisation.

Hopkins is applying his knowledge of the mind, music, and technology to the design of intelligent music systems for creative human expression. Hopkins contributes research in the field of Smart Interactive Music Systems (SIMS), which he defines as a human-centered approach to the design of intelligent and connected interactive music systems. The goal of SIMS is to produce enchanting, magical experiences for all participants, whereby the capabilities of mind and bodily musical expression are maximized.
