A Boulder business, built on research from the University of Colorado, is developing technology to put self-driving vehicles not on America's roadways, but in its millions of factories and warehouses.

Robotics company Canvas Technology has been working quietly on its technology and flagship product, still to be revealed: an autonomous driving system that will move goods and materials in indoor manufacturing operations.

The technology is based on decade-long research conducted at CU's Autonomous Robotics and Perception Group by co-founders Nima Keivan and Juan Falquez. Their work on computer vision algorithms can take two-dimensional images, snapped by a robotic vehicle's cameras, and turn them into three-dimensional maps of indoor environments.
