Working Title of Dissertation: Sagebrush Struggle: Environmental Extremism, Collaboration, and Conflict in Nevada, 1980-2000

Christian Filbrun is a PhD candidate and the Senator Harry Reid Fellow at the University of Nevada, Reno. His dissertation, tentatively titled “Sagebrush Struggle: Environmental Extremism, Collaboration, and Conflict in Nevada, 1980-2000,” argues that the environmental ethics of Nevadans following the 1979 Sagebrush Rebellion provides a lens into the broader battles occurring across the American West. "Sagebrush Struggle" utilizes the Harry Reid Papers, a currently closed and previously unused congressional collection housed in the University of Nevada, Reno’s Special Collections and University Archives.
