In Boulder

Boulder offers visitors a variety of activities and sights to see. To explore all that there is to do in the area, please access:

Libraries

CU Boulder’s University Libraries collection includes over twelve million books, journals, government publications, audiovisual content, maps, and computer resources. Norlin Library is the largest library on campus. Law School also has a Law Library located on the second floor of the Wolf Law Library.

In addition to the CU Boulder University Libraries system, there is also a public library system in Boulder featuring five branches.

Hiking

There are over 100 miles of trails in Boulder County. Before heading off into the woods, please time some time to plan your trip and to review the trail conditions and rules. Additional information about popular hikes and associated trail rules can be found on the websites indicated below.

Parks and Multi-use Paths

The City of Boulder has operates more than 60 parks, including a 42-acre bike park. Boulder may be most known for its historic Chautauqua Park, which offers concerts and community events. In addition, there are more than 80 miles of multi-use paths in town – perfect for biking or strolling.

Recreation Centers, Reservoir, and Pools

The City of Boulder operates three recreation centers, a reservoir (lake), and two outdoor pools (seasonal). Check out the seasonal recreation guide, where you can find an array of classes and activities.

Climbing

Indoor and outdoor climbing are popular hobbies in Boulder. Check out these indoor climbing gyms. In addition to offering an indoor wall, the CU Boulder Recreation Services offers outdoor climbing courses and excursions as well.

Skiing, sledding and snowshoeing

Colorado is famous for winter sports and recreation. CU Boulder offers transportation to various ski resorts, as does the Bustang service (Colorado Dept. of Transportation). RTD services Eldora, Boulder County’s only ski resort, which offers downhill, nordic skiing and snowshoeing trails. Boulder Freeride, CU Boulder’s largest student club, was founded in 1933, and also boasts to be the largest collegiate ski and snowboard club in the world. The Boulder Nordic Club grooms a path at North Boulder Park each time there is adequate snowfall (from mid-October to April 1).

Colorado is also home to numerous sledding and snowtubing hills! (Most tubing hills include tube rentals.) In Boulder, check out Tantra Park and Scott Carpenter Park (but don’t forget to bring your own sled or tube).
