Emily Spangler
Emily grew up in Fort Collins and Longmont, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado (CU) with a bachelors in Environmental Engineering, and is currently completing her masters in Civil Engineering at CU as well. Her specific program is entitled Engineering for Developing Communities (EDC), and focuses study on appropriate engineering solutions within the broader scope of global development. Her main focus within EDC is water, sanitation and hygiene, with particular interest in post-disaster sanitation solutions. Emily’s practicum experience lead her to Panama to work as an intern for Bridges to Prosperity. Her research experience at CU has involved work with Dr. Austa Parker on advanced oxidation processes and toxicity assays. Emily also worked on urine disinfection as part of the Linden Lab’s Reinvent The Toilet grant through the Gates Foundation. Emily will be graduating with her masters in May 2015.
