Jess is interested in structural engineering and civil systems in developing communities, a passion that arose through undergraduate involvement with Engineers Without Borders. She is currently working as a Discovery Learners Apprentice researching post-disaster recovery under PhD student, Casie Venable, with advisement from Dr. Amy Javernick-Will and Dr. Abbie Liel. Being a Colorado native, Jess enjoys climbing rocks in the summer and skiing mountains in the winter.
