Class of 2027 at Orientation.

WELCOME TO THE CLASS OF 2028!

We look forward to supporting you as you take the next step in your education. To accept our offer of admission and secure your seat in the entering class, please follow the checklist below and submit the requested materials. Thank you for choosing Colorado Law.

NEXT STEPS

  • Seat deposits. You are required to pay two non-refundable seat deposits.
    • Your first seat deposit of $200 is due on April 11, 2025.
    • Your second seat deposit of $750 is due on May 9, 2025.
*If a military program is paying the full tuition for your first year of law school, your second seat deposit will be waived. If this is the case, please email us at law.admissions@colorado.edu
You will receive information on how to submit the seat deposits electronically in early 2025.
  • Address/Email updates. Please keep your address and email up-to-date by sending any changes to law.admissions@colorado.edu.
  • Transcripts. To enroll at Colorado Law, we must have an official transcript on file from all accredited post-high school institutions, including verification of your degree conferral(s). The transcript(s) submitted to LSAC in your application generally satisfy this requirement. Once the first deposit is paid, Colorado Law will send you an email detailing any transcript(s) submitted to LSAC as part of your application that do/don’t satisfy this requirement. Please ensure that any outstanding transcript(s) are sent to LSAC from your post-high school institution(s). This includes:
    • All degrees conferred with dates.
    • Some study abroad transcripts. We will email you directly if a study abroad transcript is required.
    • If your degree was completed at an international institution, an official transcript must be sent to Colorado Law regardless of whether or not it has already been sent to LSAC.
    • If your degree is currently in progress, please send LSAC an updated final transcript after your degree is conferred.
  • Application Updates. Please remember that you have an ongoing obligation to report to us within 30 days if your answer(s) to any of our character and fitness questions change(s).
  • Tuition Classification. If you disagree with your residency determination, or if you believe your status will change before you begin law school, visit the CU Boulder Office of the Registrar website to obtain the necessary petition form. Questions can be directed to tuitclass@colorado.edu or 303.492.0907. Concerns about residency classification should be resolved prior to enrollment.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Law School Scholarships – administered by the Office of Admissions for Colorado Law

  • All admitted students are considered for merit-based scholarships based on their law school application. Admitted students will be notified by email of scholarship decisions on a rolling basis beginning in December. Scholarship awards will be finalized prior to the first seat deposit deadline on April 11, 2025.
  • The Colorado Law Admissions Office also awards scholarship money to continuing second and third year students. These scholarships are based on a variety of qualifications including academic merit, financial need, and other parameters such as area of interest. A list of Colorado Law Scholarships is available at https://www.colorado.edu/law/colorado-law-scholarships. Continuing student application information is available each spring.
  • Additional scholarships available from outside sources are listed on our Colorado Law Scholarships website. Please visit this website periodically for new scholarship opportunities.

Other Scholarships – not administered by Colorado Law

  • The University of Colorado Boulder’s Office of Financial Aid provides useful information on how to search for private scholarships, helpful hints for essay writing, how to report private scholarships you receive, and much more. Please visit their Private Scholarship website.
  • You should also research external resources to find the many other scholarships for which you may be eligible. We encourage students to explore outside scholarships at the AccessLex Law School Scholarship Databank. Other scholarships may be available through affiliations including: fraternities/sororities, employers, parents’ employers, churches, and local organizations in your community. These would be in addition to any Colorado Law scholarship aid you receive.

FINANCIAL MATTERS

A quality legal education is a sizeable investment in your future, and Colorado Law is committed to helping you make it affordable. You will find information below on aid that is available to you, law school costs, and payment options.

Financial Aid
Financial aid includes grants, scholarships, work-study, and both Direct Unsubsidized loans and Graduate PLUS loans. Detailed information can be found on the Office of Financial Aid’s website.

  • To be eligible for federal financial aid you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year. The FAFSA determines your eligibility for grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships that are classified as need-based.
  • Your total aid package cannot exceed the pre-determined cost of attendance (see table below), which is an estimate of the amount it will cost you to attend law school for one academic year (9 months). COA includes: (1) direct education costs (tuition and fees), and (2) indirect education costs (room and board (i.e. rent), personal, medical, books and supplies, and transportation expenses).
  • The Office of Financial Aid will award admitted students, with a completed FAFSA, a financial aid package. Once you are officially awarded, you will receive notification from their office with instructions to view your financial aid package via the CU Buff Portal. Note: You will be notified by email when you have access to the CU Buff student portal. Until then, you can contact our financial aid counselor directly at lawfinancialaid@colorado.edu to discuss financial aid at any time.

Billing and Tuition Payment
The Bursar’s Office will post billing statements in late July/early August for the fall of 2025 semester. Tuition and fees must be paid by the date indicated on your bill, approximately two weeks after the first day of classes. You may elect to pay tuition and fees in installments. You may enroll in a payment plan after you receive e-mail notification of the first bill of the semester. Detailed information on how to enroll in payment plans is available on the Bursar’s website.

  • All financial aid (including law scholarships) is disbursed to the Bursar’s Office. Any monies due will be paid by financial aid, and if you are receiving more financial aid than what you owe, the remainder will be released to you as a refund to help cover the indirect costs outlined in the cost of attendance.
  • The refund policy and instructions on setting up direct deposit is available on the Bursar’s Refunds website.
  • The Office of Financial Aid cannot disburse any aid prior to 10 days before the first day of classes. This means your bill will not reflect the financial aid payments you will be receiving until this date.
  • If you are eligible for a refund, the Bursar’s Office will release the excess funds 3-5 days before the first day of classes (not before). Please ensure that you plan accordingly to cover all expenses (e.g., August rent, books, etc.) prior to receiving your refund.
