I'm the Executive Director of Boulder Housing Partners. We employ around 100 employees and house over 2,300 low income households in Boulder. Previously, I've worked in Real Estate Development for the Denver Housing Authority as an Attorney with the Boulder County Attorney's Office.
My advice for students is...
I've found a lot of success in my time by getting really clear about what's most essential and keeping my focus, and the organization's focus, on those items, and those items only. I've never regretted being generous with my employees, either financially or with their time. Never treat people as a means to an end. And lastly, balance between work and life is critical for bringing fresh ideas and energy to your work.
