Executive Director, Museum of Boulder

Lori Preston serves as Executive Director of the Museum of Boulder. Originally from Kansas, Lori has lived in the Boulder area off and on since 1981. The culmination of her unique experiences and executive leadership in public and private educational and non-profit organizations has a proven record of effective strategic planning, strong fiscal management, collaboration and generativity. She is a proud, dedicated mother of a University of Denver student. She enjoys photography, tennis, art and extensive world travel. Her love of Colorado and Boulder is deep, making it a natural for her to invite community members into the Museum to learn, listen, engage, gather together and become a part of Boulder's fascinating stories.

Lori is a lifelong learner, having recently completed post-graduate institute work through Harvard's Graduate School of Educational Leadership.She has her Masters in Mid-Management and Educational Leadership, serving early learners through college as an adjunct professor, inner-city school educator in Denver and Houston, Texas. She has led as a teacher, Director, Principal and Assistant Superintendent of public and charter schools and as the Head of School and CEO of two independent schools prior to her current role as Executive Director and CEO of the Museum of Boulder. Her community service work has included serving as a Board member and volunteer for various non-profit organizations, including executive leadership for a BVSD local public charter school and for eTown in Boulder, Colorado.
