Whittier International School

Whittier International School is currently attended by children from 29 diffierent countries speaking 19 different languages. The Homework Club at the school is an after-school program that helps 3rd to 5th graders struggling with subjects like Math and Reading.

LING 1900 volunteers work with these students one-on-one or in small groups once or twice a week. They act as both a mentor to engage with students who need extra help with school work, and an assistant to the teacher, helping them with lesson planning.

Orientation is provided by Whittier Homework Club directors. This is a great opportunity for students interested in education or childhood development, as it can be difficult to find volunteer opportunities with elementary schools. This can be an excellent experience for those interested in working in related fields!
