The Gaming Community at Williams Village East is designed to increase student involvement through virtual means, specifically by gaming. The community is an opt-in experience within Williams Village East that requires no student fees and is funded through Residence Life. Students in this community can expect programs and experiences centered on gaming, which will promote diverse global and community connections.

Goals

  • Build community (at CU and globally) through shared similar interests via virtual and in-person interactions with peers, faculty, staff, and the larger gaming community
  • Engage with the larger gaming community through dialogues on inclusion and social justice in gaming
  • Develop strategies to manage health and wellness while engaging in gaming
  • Foster leadership and communication skills to positively impact both their residential and virtual communities

Outcomes

Students who have engaged and participated in this LLC will have acquired the following at the end of their academic year:

  • Deep connections with other like-minded students through physical and virtual social gaming spaces
  • Connections with CU Boulder’s gaming programs and initiatives including CU Gaming and ESports
  • Understanding of their gaming interests, and the application to career goals
  • Awareness of inclusion and social justice work in the gaming community
  • Skills to interrupt bias and promote inclusion in the gaming community
  • Effective communication skills for in-person and virtual communication
  • Leadership skills and teamwork through collaborative gameplay
