Predicting and Driving Market Adoption of Decarbonization Technologies

Executive Summary
Resource Innovations’ Market Transformation team designs and implements industry-leading market
transformation programs for emerging and pre-commercialized technologies that support
decarbonization of the electric and gas utility-industry. We are looking for passionate, driven leaders
from the CU Masters of the Environment (MENV)program who, with the support of the Resource
Innovations Market Transformation team, will support our decarbonization efforts by developing
market forecasts that predict the impacts that market transformation activities will have on the
adoption of emerging technologies (see figure below). Energy efficiency, electrification (including
electric vehicles), and emerging decarbonization technologies will be the focus of this project.
To develop these market forecasts, MENV students will get a crash course on market transformation,
an innovative approach to accelerate adoption of promising emerging technologies in the utility
demand-side management industry. They will also learn about emerging decarbonization
technologies and the key market barriers hindering their adoption and work with Resource
Innovations staff to identify key market intervention strategies. The work for this project can be a
launching point for a career pursuing large-scale decarbonization through emerging technologies,
DSM program design, and market transformation, potentially with Resource Innovations.
