College of Music Dean Robert Shay talks with students about the college's strategic planning process at an April 9 town hall meeting.

The College of Music is embarking on a strategic planning process, and students and alumni are invited to be a part of it.

On Thursday evening, April 9, Dean Robert Shay held a town hall meeting for students to hear more about the plan, ask questions and provide their feedback.

While different task forces have been assembled among faculty, staff, students and alumni to address everything from engagement to travel, Dean Shay wanted to hear students’ priorities for the college.

The conversation focused on potential partnerships with other colleges on the Boulder campus, more robust performance recording capabilities and the importance of incorporating communications and public speaking courses into the College of Music curriculum.

The strategic planning process is just beginning, with more town hall meetings and student questionnaires planned for early in the fall semester.
