CU Boulder trumpet studio excels at National Trumpet Competition! 
Fresh off the National Trumpet Competition and 2^nd Annual NTC College Night Exhibition at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, March 8-11: Congratulations to Michael Brotherton and Madison Sinan who won first and third places in the Graduate Division and Noah Solomon who placed third in the Military Band Excerpts Division; to our Large Ensemble for placing second; and to Noah Solomon (Undergraduate Division), Rebecca Ortiz (Graduate Division), Leilani Spurlock (Graduate Division) and our Small Ensemble for advancing to the semifinals—in addition to all 12 of our soloists! Our gratitude and appreciation to Professor of Trumpet Ryan Gardner and Suyeon Kim, teaching associate professor in collaborative piano.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Music Buffs!​

• Drumming legend and clinician Chad Wackerman will hold a rare residency at our College of Music next week. Mike Barnett, assistant teaching professor in composition and music theory, shares how the residency demonstrates the college’s universal musician mission. “In the arts, you can grow your entire life,” he says.
• Sphinx Virtuosi coming to Gates Concert Hall March 20 (KGNU)—featuring Alex Gonzalez, Sphinx Virtuosi’s concertmaster and assistant professor of violin at our College of Music!
• On March 20, 8:30-10 a.m., join us for our next College of Music coffee hour. Bagels/donuts will be served!
