Brief Bio: Maxwell Elling joins the Oceans & Climate Lab in the Fall of 2024. Max is currently a Scientific Programmer in the Global Climate Modeling group at NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS). At GISS, Max is researching the behavior of climate extremes in GISS ModelE and the consequences of model differences on climate impact-drivers. He is also a CMIP6 curator and a participating researcher in the GISTEMP analysis. Before GISS, Max completed an M.A. in Climate and Society at Columbia University, where he worked at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO), the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), and the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law. At CU Boulder, Max is interested in investigating climate extremes and compound events in a changing climate, as well as the interactions between climate and health.
