Whether your student is moving out of a residence hall or an off-campus residence, here are some reminders and tips for a smooth transition.

Donate and recycle

As your student is packing up their belongings, they may find they have more than they need. Encourage your student to donate or recycle items they no longer need rather than throwing them in the dumpster. For on-campus residents, there will be donation collection stations in the lobby of each residence hall. Off-campus residents can find many places to donate in the Boulder area, including Goodwill and the Salvation Army.

Summer storage

Both on- and off-campus students can use The UPS Store® locations at CU Boulder for summer storage. Students can store boxed items, bikes, TVs, suitcases, skis, snowboards, lamps and even mattresses. Visit usummerstorage.com for more information.

Expectations and requirements

Your student should be aware of cleaning expectations and any other requirements before moving out. If your student’s residence does not meet move-out standards, fines can occur or they may not receive their full security deposit back. Here is the cleaning checklist for on-campus residents; off-campus residents should review their lease or ask their property manager about cleaning expectations.
