Check in for Family Weekend, pick up your agenda, t-shirt, clear game day bag, CU giveaways, a campus map and other registration package information.
Bouldering
12.-4 p.m. | Rec Center Climbing Gym
Drop in to the Climbing Gym at the Rec Center for free bouldering and route climbing terrain for all skill levels. Show your Family Weekend luggage tag for access. Participants must be 12 or older to enter the gym, and anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Make sure to pick up your luggage tag at the check-in and information tent first.
Family Weekend Photo Stop
12.-5 p.m. | Farrand Field
Stop by the tent on the corner of Farrand Field to grab a family photo in the most Instagrammed spot on campus! We'll get your questions answered and direct you to check-in and other Family Weekend events on campus.
Open Rec
12-11:30 p.m. | Rec Center (Main Campus or Williams Village)
Show your Family Weekend luggage tag at the Rec Center to get in for free and take advantage of the facilities, including free fitness classes. Find a list of the class offerings on the Rec Center schedule. Make sure to pick up your luggage tag at the check-in and information tent first.
Buffalo Statue Photo Hunt
All day | Various
Snap a family photo (or a selfie!) with one of our five campus buffalo statues, then submit it for a chance to win a CU prize pack! You may enter one photo per statue. One winner will be drawn during the Buffs Family Sendoff Brunch. You do not need to attend the brunch to win; prize packs can be picked up at the New Student & Family Programs office. Submit your photos by 11 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 to enter.

Ask questions and hear from a group of student leaders about their CU Boulder journey!
Haunted Legends: Ghost Tours
6:30-7:30 p.m. | UMC South Terrace
Fan of the supernatural and the unusual? Uncover stories of restless phantoms and unexplained phenomena as you wander haunted locations on campus with other new students. At the end of the night, you'll have a chance to share your own ghost stories. Are you brave enough to join us? (Content advisory: This event is recommended for ages 13 and up.)

Buffs After Dark: Family Game Night
8-10 p.m. | UMC First Floor (UMC West Dining Area, Buffalo Esports and Gaming Lounge, and UMC Connection)
Come to the UMC first floor for fun games and activities (board games, card games, video games, bowling, pool, ping pong, etc.) across the UMC Westing Dining Area, the Alienware Buffalo Esports and Gaming Lounge and The Connection for Family Game Night! This event is free for all students and their families (no RSVP required!) and will include free food and drinks while supplies last!

Buffalo Stampede 5K Fun Run
9-11 a.m. | UMC South Terrace Tent
Join us for the annual Buffalo Stampede 5K Fun Run through CU Boulder’s beautiful campus. On-site registration is required. The registration fee is $20 and must be paid in cash. All proceeds support future family and parent programs at CU Boulder through New Student & Family Programs. Please note: This is a fun run, so walking, skipping and jogging are all welcome! We will not have an official timer, but we will have a race clock with an ongoing time.

Architecture Tour
3:30-4:30 p.m. | UMC South Terrace Tent
Tour CU Boulder’s campus while learning more about the historical development of the architectural style, campus design principles and the current practice and future vision for the institution. Spaces for this tour will be first-come, first-served. Can't join the tour? Learn more by checking out the book Body & Soul by William R. Deno, a former CU campus architect. The book is available at the CU Bookstore and proceeds directly benefit students in the Planning, Design & Construction mentorship program.
Campus Tree Tour
9:30-10:30 a.m. | UMC Dalton Trumbo Fountain Court
CU Boulder has around 5,000 trees with 60 different species represented. Vince Aquino, Facilities Management Forestry Supervisor, will lead a tour pointing out unique characteristics and attributes of the campus trees, and their historical significance to the university. Come learn about our beloved trees and meet others in the Buffs family who are interested in trees! Please note: Tour space is limited and will be first come, first served.

Buffs Family Yoga
9:30-1:30 a.m. | Rec Center (Main Campus) Studio 2
Join us for morning yoga with one of CU Boulder’s Rec Center yoga instructors. We will have a limited number of yoga mats available; feel free to bring your own mat if you have one.

Pre-Stampede Reception
4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. | Embassy Suites & Hilton Garden Inn
Join New Student & Family Programs for our annual Pre-Stampede Reception. Mix and mingle with other families, CU administrators and staff over heavy appetizers and a cash bar. Families can walk, take the bus or get on the Spirit Shuttle from the reception venue to Pearl Street in time for the Stampede. Shuttles are also available at 4 p.m. at UMC to take families to the reception. Please note shuttles do not run return routes to campus.
Additional local activities for families
- Take a campus tree walk.
- Get some fresh air at Chautauqua Park.
- Enjoy shopping and dining on Pearl Street.
- Check out the Museum of Boulder.
- Pick up some local goods at the Boulder County Farmers Market (Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Visit the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (free on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
