3rd Graders Learn About Science on the Ice and the Current Role of Women in Research

Byron Adams attended Foothills Elementary School to give a presentation to a classroom of 3rd graders and their teacher about MCM LTER science. The objectives of the presentation were to help children understand:

• Key physical principles concerning properties of water
• Data and figure literacy
• History of exploration

In addition, students were introduced to the biology and ecology of key MCM LTER soil biota, and the historical and current role of women, as related to MCM LTER research.
