While receiving his B.S. in physics from BIOLA University, Jonan received training in intercultural communication and educational theories under supervisor Patrick Shin (Ph.D. candidate, Intercultural Education) and studied ungrading in an engineering education context under Stan Ng (Ph.D. candidate, Electrical Engineering and STEM Education). He additionally attended an REU at Vanderbilt University, researching computational condensed matter under Drs. Sokrates Pantelides and Deliang Bao.

He now attends CU Boulder as a graduate student in the PER group, aiding curricular development in quantum information science education (QISE) and researching student outcomes from REUs.
