"Does rising inequality lead to more-restrictive or less-restrictive immigration policies?" According to Political Science professor Adrian Shin, the answer isn't so cut and dry as you may expect. In new research conducted by Dr. Shin and his colleagues at UCLA, the answer turns out to be "both". The state of a country's economy, specifically whether those immigrants compete for jobs, seems to be at the center of this surprisingly complex inquiry.
