"I grew up in Oregon and always enjoyed the outdoors. I was a cyclocross racer in highschool and went to Nationals in Boulder one winter. I was able to explore the campus and get to know the team, which convinced me I needed to be at CU. Heading into CU, like most science loving people, I thought my only option was to become a doctor. While at CU I had the opportunity to work for the LA program and CU teach which convinced me to be a teacher."
"I remember the collaboration and community most from my time as an LA. There were welcome meetings, class support, discussions, and mentorship opportunities. All of these things allowed me to feel part of the larger school community and supported my passions for education. Some of my closest friends during school came from the LA program. Also as a mentor, I learned valuable skills in communication, critical friendships, and feedback techniques."
"Now I am a teacher! I have worked in a variety of educational settings due to the movement of my Partner's work. I have taught in CO, TN, Online, and now in Oregon! I have taught 6th grade science, 7/8th grade science, High School Biology and now 9/10th grade Science and A&P. I teach for the kids. I enjoy seeing the "Ah ha" moment but I want my students to be able to connect their learning to their community and environment around them."
"I loved being an LA! I think the LA program helped me find a strong community at CU Boulder which in turn motivated me in other aspects of my life. It helped me learn how to ask for what I needed and give what I could to the LA community. I still keep in touch with some of my LA peers!"
"If someone is interested in education, or in finding a strong community on campus, then the LA program is for them! It also helped me create a strong connection with the content and the department staff."
