Move-in FAQ

See below for anwers to common employee questions related to parking during Move-In.

Permit holders and non-move-in traffic are being restricted from campus in support of creating a more positive move-in day experience for students moving into the residence halls. To do this, we need to reduce traffic impacts to the campus and the City of Boulder.

In support of our students moving into the residence halls, we request that all employees consider one of the following options:

  • Use alternative transportation, including walking and biking (for Boulder-based faculty and staff) or taking the bus to campus.
  • Telecommute, Non-faculty employees whose work is conducive to telecommuting should immediately speak with their supervisor to make arrangements.
  • Use accrued leave. Employees who want to use leave should speak to their supervisors.
  • Carpool with others. Plan now to ride-share with other employees who live near you. Preferential status for temporary permits may be given to those who are carpooling.
  • Have someone drop you off. Drop-off will be available in peripheral areas near campus including the 28th Street frontage road at Aurora or College Avenue.

A limited number of special “Critical Need” permits on Main Campus will be available for August 19 – 22 for employees who show a direct need and demonstrate that alternatives will not work due to medical restrictions or job requirements to have a vehicle. Preference for permits may be given to those who carpool with others. Requests must be submitted through the Move in Parking Request Form no later than Friday, August 9. Please specify “Move-in Critical Need" in the request form. Every submission must be authorized by the requestor’s Dean, Vice Chancellor or designee.

Completet the Critical Need Move-In Day Permit request form. If approved, Parking Services will send you a Guest Permit Invitation Link to claim your permit. You will need to enter your vehicle information before you check out. Please print this permit. It must be displayed while you are on campus. It will be your responsibility to claim your permit once you receive the link.

RTD buses will run on their normal routes unless directed otherwise based on real time traffic. Visit www.rtd-denver.com for up to date route information.

Permit holders with disability placards or plates will be allowed to park in their regularly assigned parking lot. Please Contact Parking Events Department and Request a Special Access permit in the event you may be arriving during Move in Operations to avoid delays. To do this, fill out the Move in Parking Request Form and indicate that you have a disability placard.

Motorcycle permit holders can park in their regularly assigned lots.

No, ONLY move-in day permits are valid for parking on campus on August 19 through August 22. (Including 22 for lot 360 and 23 - 25 for lot 346 Lot Closures) This includes Vendor and Worksite.

This Campus Wide Event is designed to put our new incoming students and parents first. To give them the best possible Move-In experience possible, we encourage you to reschedule any meetings for a different day or meet elsewhere (Zoom, Teams, off campus, etc.).
