As of March 26, Lime e-scooter users parking outside of Lime Groves on The Hill and on CU Boulder’s properties may receive a $10 fine. In order to support a safer community on the Hill and to ensure e-scooters are parked appropriately, the City and Lime have expanded the Mandatory Parking Zone on the Hill which includes the addition of specific “Lime Groves” similar to what we have on Campus. Use the Lime app to see the expanded zone and to find your nearest parking location.

Are you a student who is passionate about sustainability, transportation, and data or communications? 

We are hiring two student employees, a Communications Assistant and a Data Coordinator. Both positions support CU Boulder’s Sustainable Transportation team, which manages services including the employee bus pass program, vanpooling, e-scooter expansion, car share, electric vehicle charging and more. These programs are aimed at enhancing safety, equity and sustainability for the CU community.

The 30th Street & Colorado Avenue Protected Intersection & Underpass Project has been awarded the Colorado Contractors Infrastructure Construction Excellence award. Improvements on Colorado Ave. continue as work is underway for sidewalk-level protected bike lanes, widening sidewalks, planting new landscaping and Improving transit stops as part of the 30th Street Corridor Multimodal Improvements Project. Expect vehicle lane reductions, temporary RTD Bound stop closures or relocations (app.rtd-denver.com/alerts), bicycle and pedestrian detours, and delays when traveling in the area. Feedback has been analyzed and preliminary design and recommendations have been made to address transportation challenges between 28th and 63rd Streets. Check out the results via a series of educational videos, which will be available on the CO 7 project webpage.

The City of Boulder is looking for feedback on conceptual designs for the Iris Avenue Transportation Improvements Project and will share them for review and feedback. Share your feedback  at any of the following events:

• Columbine Elementary School: Saturday, April 27t, 10 a.m. to noon
• North Boulder Recreation Center: Tuesday, April 30, 4 to 6 p.m. 
• Columbine Park, next to Columbine Elementary School: Wednesday, May 8, 2:30 to 4 p.m.  
• Parkside Park: Thursday, May 16, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. 
• Virtual open house: April 27 to May 27, accessible from the Iris Avenue Transportation Improvements project page.

The leaders of the South Boulder Road Study will be gathering feedback at the following events.

• Digital Engagement: April 26 to May 20
• Public Meeting: May 8
• Pop-up events in Boulder and Louisville: May 11, and in Lafayette on April 27

This regional rail project would potentially lead to a new passenger train to connect Coloradans across 13 counties on the Front Range. Complete a 5-minute questionnaire about how you would use the train and what matters most to you, such as cost, safety, travel time and more. Feedback will help the District build a train service that meets the needs of future riders.

The 2024 legislative session is heating up as legislators and advocates have until May 8 to pass their bills in the House and Senate. Two bills related to transportation are expected to be considered during this session:

• Senate Bill 24-065, a bill to reduce distracted driving (Fact Sheet). To better understand the arguments for and against SB23-065, read this recent blog post. The committee is scheduled to hear testimony and vote on the bill on April 3.
• HB24-1021, a bill to increase driver education standards for minors bill to be voted on in the full House in the next week or two. (Fact Sheet)
