Trained in liberatory pedagogy, Eric is specifically interested in how Socratic conversations and a writing process informed by reflection and revision can promote mutual learning and self-actualization. To quote Paula Gillespie and Neal Lerner, “All deserve the opportunity to find meaning in what they write and to share that meaning with others.” Eric enjoys connecting younger and older community members with CU students. He presents at summer bridge programs and has helped local high schools to develop their own writing centers. Eric also teaches a popular intergenerational writing course that pairs community members over the age of 60 with CU students to explore the pursuit of happiness through writing and conversation.

Eric Klinger works in the Office of Undergraduate Education as the Faculty Director of the Writing Center, a campus academic support resource that provides one-to-one writing advice and feedback for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and university affiliates. Eric oversees a staff writing consultants composed of adjunct faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students who conduct over 6000 sessions per year. Eric’s responsibilities include developing, implementing, and assessing Writing Center curricula and programming that respond to the diverse and evolving needs of the CU Boulder community.
