Bio

Dr. Barkin's research focuses on how comics, graphic narratives, photography, and nonfiction films document and frame geographies of conflict, history, and memory. Much of her work focuses on historical traumas (such as genocide) and the impact it has on collective and individual memories/histories. She is also a textile and fiber artist who is invested in developing and sustaining craft communities as activist spaces.
