The provost recently approved an extension of the last day to drop a class (with a W) deadline for students, through the last day of classes—April 30 for Spring 2020 full-semester classes, prorated for special session classes. Students may drop a class through Buff Portal through the extended deadline.

The extension is intended to help accommodate students who may be challenged by the transition to remote learning or are facing other difficulties during this uncertain time.

An announcement to students went out in yesterday and today's editions of CU Boulder Today, and the main student information coronavirus FAQs page has been updated accordingly.

Additional updates related to this extension:

  • The deadline for a full-term withdrawals is still April 30. Since students will be able to drop classes through their portal through the extended deadline, it's possible that some students may withdraw this way rather than completing a withdrawal form.

  • The last day for students to request grade replacement has also been extended to April 30, as this deadline is systematically tied to the last day to drop a class. We still intend to uphold the maximum credit limits on grade replacement, and requests exceeding the established caps for undergraduate and graduate students will not be approved.

Grade rosters will be generated on May 1, which is also reading day (prorated for special session classes). This is to ensure all late drops are reflected.
