CU Science Discovery offers a variety of hands-on summer STEM experiences for grades K-12. Our in-person and virtual STEM camps and classes are designed to inspire creativity and a thirst for knowledge, while allowing students to interact with their peers in a safe setting. Participants are encouraged to explore topics that are of interest to them, ask questions, and share their knowledge and expertise with others. Participating in a Science Discovery summer program gives you peace of mind that your child will spend part of their summer in an environment that stimulates creative thinking and fosters growth and curiosity.
CU Science Discovery's summer camps and high school classes:
- Provide opportunities for K-12 students to explore a variety of STEM topics
- Are led by enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced instructors, including CU faculty, graduate and undergraduate scientists
- Include project-based learning activities that are engaging, informative and fun
- Provide individualized attention and small camp and class sizes
- Virtual programs combine virtual class meeting time (over Zoom) with online and hands-on activities
- Virtual programs provide a unique opportunity for parents to get a glimpse into their child's summer camp experiences

COVID-19 Safety Plan
The health of CU Science Discovery program participants, staff and community partners is a top priority. Science Discovery is committed to an intentional, collaborative, and expert-informed plan designed to limit COVID-19 exposure to all individuals at all program locations.
Summer Scholarship Information
CU Science Discovery strongly believes that all youth, regardless of means, should have an opportunity to participate in a summer program if they have an interest in doing so. Through private donations, grants, fundraising and university support, Science Discovery is able to provide limited financial assistance to support student participation in programs at CU Boulder and CU Anschutz.
Locations and Logistics (In-Person Programs)
Drop-off time: 15 minutes prior to camp start time
Pick-up time: Immediately at the conclusion of camp
Free parking will be made available in the Folsom Parking Garage on Stadium Drive (located just north of Franklin Field) from 8:45-9am, 12:45-1:15pm and 3:45-4pm. Morning sign-in does not begin until 8:45am. Note: The walk from the parking garage to the sign-in/sign-out location, can take approximately 10 minutes.
CU Science Discovery is not responsible for parking fees incurred outside of the times listed above.
Parents/guardians are responsible for walking their child to the check-in/check-out area in front of the Benson Earth Sciences building. Science Discovery will have table check-in at this site and staff will escort participants to their designated classrooms. Please do your best to have your child dropped off by 8:45am so they can arrive at their designated location by 9am.
In accordance with updated guidance from the CDC around COVID-19 transmission prevention, CU Science Discovery encourages, but does not require student participants and staff to wear masks throughout all programs. While this is the current policy of CU Science Discovery, we will continue to monitor the situation and make the best possible decisions in the interest of safety for participants and staff. Check-in at Chautauqua Park will begin at 12:45pm. Please follow the map to the half-circle drive just before the Chautauqua Auditorium. CU Science Discovery staff will be in the grassy area at the half-circle drive during drop-off and pick-up windows.
