The project team leading the 2021 Campus Master Plan (CMP) initiative has begun reviewing feedback from students, faculty and staff who participated in an interactive mapping exercise that closed on Dec. 18.
Additionally, the CMP project team has reconvened the 26 campus academic and business units from the Strategic Facilities Visioning effort and has solicited input from these units related to new development schemes and future campus growth.
The campus delayed the initiative’s original launch date last spring after the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, but revived the effort in October with a plan to take the final document to the regents for their approval in the second half of this year.
“The pandemic has highlighted the importance of maintaining resilience and adaptability for our campus,” said David Kang vice chancellor for infrastructure and sustainability. “It has changed the way we look at teaching, learning, research and the office environment. These new insights will be reviewed and incorporated into our planning efforts and in the prioritization of future projects.”
CU Boulder has a statutory requirement to update its CMP every 10 years; the CU Board of Regents approved the current plan in 2011.
The CMP will lay out a physical infrastructure plan that best supports the campus mission of education and research and priority themes and projects stemming from Academic Futures.
The plan will be the culmination of multiple cross-campus collaborative efforts and incorporate the efforts of the Transportation Master Plan, the Housing Master Plan and the Energy Master Plan initiatives. This spring, the campus community will have more opportunities to engage with all of the master plan initiatives.
